276 // Self-Care: How To Do It Right

Self-care seems to be a buzzword that gets swept up in consumerism and consequently the real meaning and purpose of self-care gets blurry. In today’s episode, we talk about what self-care really is and how intentionality, mindfulness, and boundaries can help us connect better to ourselves and others.

Main ideas

  • Take time to note recharging activities for you, then be intentional about making the time and space to do them. For example if you have 15 minutes of time choose to do something on your list like snuggle up and read a book rather than mindlessly scroll social media. (unless of course you’ve decided that is rejuvenating for you ;))

  • Self-care can look like purposefully adding activities into our lives, and other times it can look like taking things out and saying no to things to add space back into your life

  • The boundaries we set and hold for asserting our own needs and wishes is the every moment self care we need to remain in a healthy state.

  • Connection and boundaries we hold for ourselves and inextricably related to the connection we have with others––especially those we love.
